Food blogging represents an intricate interweaving of food obsessive or gourmet passion in blog writing and photographing. Most blogs, especially the more popular ones, focus on food photography and use images taken by the blogger themselves or by freelance photographers working for them. Others, like me, am interested in both. I enjoy both, and enjoy being able to share my passions with others who are interested in the same things.
The first thing food bloggers need to do is become educated about food. I’ve seen so many food bloggers talk about all the great recipes they have come up with, but when asked what their favorite food is, very few can name it. It’s a sad situation. However, you can avoid this problem by becoming familiar with the foods you love, not only as a food blogger, but as a person. Learn how to cook it, how to eat it and what ingredients go into making it.
Another key skill for food bloggers is social media networking. This means following people on Twitter, Facebook and other sites that allow you to socialize with like-minded people. Once you become a part of a group of people who enjoy the same things you do, you’ll find your blogging skills skyrocket. Food blogging is truly an art form.
